Knowing Corey Chisel

Cory Chisel is a singer-song writer from metropolis of Appleton, WI. He and The Wandering Sons, have an EP entitled Cabin Ghosts. The EP was recorded live in his family's cabin and at a live show.

It's quite obvious from the opening bars that Chisel spent a great deal of his childhood crawling around in his father's Bruce Springsteen collection. His songs reflect the blue collar Americana of The Boss, Mellancamp, Petty, and other gritty bluesy rockers.

The tracks have a tremendous warmth and comfort to them. In fact, some song will feel instantly familiar, like an old friend you had forgotten.

Chisel's style has an intensity to them, even though his singing and playing style are relatively laid back.

Cabin Ghosts is a tremendous start. It will be interesting to see whether Chisel can sustain this level of quality over the course of a full length album.
